Congress and I promise that the burden of the judiciary will not fall on the middle class: P Chidambaram
Congress and I promise that the burden of the judiciary will not fall on the middle class: P Chidambaram Former finance minister and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram has said that his party's 'justice' plan related to minimum income guarantees will not affect the middle class people. There are speculations on this plan that the amount spent will be collected from the middle class as tax. P Chidambaram has dismissed such speculations. In an interview with NDTV, he claimed, "I promise on behalf of my party and the better tax system, I will not be burdened by tax on the middle class
Chidambaram was asked how his party would raise resources for this scheme. Taking the target of NDA government on this, Chidambaram said, "The resources of the Indian government do not grow as fast as the number of special people increases. That is, there are ways to increase resources. Secondly, there is a great possibility of doing so without touching the subsidy given for socio-economic purpose. Let me repeat it again, that there will be no change in subsidy given for any particular socio-economic purpose. We will expand fiscal for the (justice) plan
Significantly, on March 25, Congress President Rahul Gandhi had declared 'Justice' scheme for 20 per cent of the poorest of the country. Under this, such families will be given Rs 72,000 per year or Rs 6,000 per month as help. The Congress President said that on the formation of his party's government this plan will be brought to 'eliminate the poor'. At the same time, in response to questions arising out of justice, the Congress Party has said that this scheme will not be implemented as NDA government's note-taking and GST. The party also rejected claims that according to the judiciary, the country's annual fiscal deficit would be more than Rs. 3 lakh crore
